This is the portal to electricity trading. This tool helps you grasp the basic practical concept of electricity trading. To the upper right corner of this page and other pages is displaced the current period of the game, the company (which is you), your total budget (in US$) at a particular period and total electricity demand (in MW) for that period.
On the strategy page, you can invest and trade. At the investmentsection, you are presented with a box which contains a drop down menu. This menu inturn contains the power plants you will purchase and then trade during the game. Before you make a purchase, you can check the properties of each power plant so that you remain informed. These properties include the price of the power plant (in million US$), total capacity of the plant in MW, its efficiency in %, in case of a thermal plant and capacity-factor (also in %), for renewables like solar and wind and finally the amount of carbon dioxide emission (in tons) per each MWh of electricity produced by the plant. At the trading section, first select a plant number which automatically assign the available bid text box with the total quantity for the selected plant number. You can then enter quantity to bid and its corresponding price. Then click Add. You can click DEL to delete a bid. Secondly, Your portfolio contains the plants you bid from and finally Plants under construction, is the depot where your newly purchased plants are kept. After the construction period, these plants would be populated into the "Your Portfolio" table on page refresh and in the same vein, when the operation period is exhausted, the plants get deleted from the Your portfolio table.
Finally, your results from the trade is later displaced on the market outcome page. There exist five tables here. The first is the market result. This summarizes trade activities of each power plant you use during your bidding ie how much capacity (in MW) has been dispatched, the corresponding cost, revenue and profit for that particular plant. While Dispatched bid table shows your bids and its accepted ratio, All bids table represents bids by all company so you have an idea how other people strategise. Finally, is the ranking to show who (or the company) with the most profit from the trade hence the greatest budget for that period. The fifth table displays the fuel prices and carbon emission per ton for the thermal plants. The summary page shows a graphical result.
You can go straight to bidding with your initial portfolio or purchase a plant before. The choice is yours.
Note: If a plant's contruction period is 0, refresh the page to populate your operation table.
Maximum allowed bid price is $200.
